KINGTON Cricket Club have taken their battle to win a place in the Birmingham League to the very top.

The reigning Worcestershire County League champions have appealed to the England and Wales Cricket Board after being refused promotion to the Birmingham League -- because their ground was not available on every Saturday throughout the cricket season.

The Herefordshire club decided to contact the ECB after an appeal against the decision was thrown out by the Birmingham League.

The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Cricket Boards are supporting the club, as is the Worcestershire League.

Kington's Recreation Ground is unavailable on two Saturdays during the season due to other events, and the club had offered to play 'home' games on those days at alternative venues.

Meanwhile, Hereford have decided to switch to the Worcestershire League next season from the West Midlands Championship, and will play in Division Three.
