FATHER Christmas landed in the rolling, green fields of Witley Court to present visiting youngsters with festive goodies.
Every child taking part in last weekend's Christmas Adventure had the chance to visit Santa in his magical snowy grotto, following a tradition started 150 years ago by the first Earl of Dudley.
The adventure challenged visitors to find the letters of a secret Christmas password hidden in the 40-acre grounds.
This would then gain them entry to the grotto and a chance to pluck a gift from the Christmas tree.
In the 1850s, the Earl offered young guests gifts of jewels and golden decorations from a magnificent tree after lavish celebrations at the house.
The adventure will continue this weekend, with clue sheets available from the visitor centre from 10am.
Admission is £4 for adults, £3 for concessions and £2 for children, free for under fives and English Heritage members.
