Another three points in the bag for Pershore Town as they won 2-1 against visitors Romulus, who are currently second in the Midland Combination Premier Division table.
Pershore manger Dave Connell had to reshuffle the line up with Chris Jew and recent signing Steven Spencer not being available and only five minutes into the match full back Jamie Pennington had to be stretchered off with a leg injury.
Pershore had the best of the early scoring chances, their prolific striker Richard Congrave was set-up by fellow striker Lee Tustin but his weak shot was easily gathered by 'keeper Lee Keyte.
Then Tustin and Richard Pincher gave Congrave another chance but he was off target.
Congrave made amends in the 15th minute, a good build-up by several of his team-mates allowed him to cleverly sidestep Keyte and strike home the opener.
Richard Woodley equalised for Romulus in the 35th minute, turning in the box to fire in a low drive.
In the second half Pershore's defence and midfield held together well to contain the Romulus attacks.
Their battling performance eventually paid off, Paul Court, Simon Brain and Jonathan Gregory tried to feed Congrave and Tustin, but the Romulus defence were hard to penetrate.
But they lost out in the 79th minute when Gregory was fouled in the box. Congrave coolly stepped up for the penalty, delayed the kick until Keyte had committed himself and placed the ball in for the winner.
Romulus pressed forward in search of an equaliser, but frantic defensive work by the Pershore back four of Maidment, Tim Concannon, Fulloway and Court ensured a well-deserved victory.
Pershore: Starkey, Pennington (Pincher 6), Court, T Concannon. Fulloway, Gregory, Brain, Maidment, Congrave, Tustin, P Concannon.
