TWO Herefordshire charities have shared a cash windfall of nearly £200,000.

Workmatch, and Age Concern, Leominster, have both been given Lottery money by the Community Fund.

The Workmatch project, which received £83,000, is an art and design co-operative which sells products created by trainees.

It will help people with mental health problems and learning difficulties by developing their design talents, and will give more challenging training for physically or sensory-impaired trainees.

The grant will pay for the part-time trainers, office equipment, a vehicle, art and design tools and help fund running costs.

Age Concern in Leominster has been given £103,000 to develop the Handyperson Scheme which carries out minor safety, security and DIY tasks for older people.

The cash will pay for the salaries of two full time and one part time member of staff.
