WE'VE got to put our defeat at Exeter City behind us now and make sure we react in the best possible way by getting back on the winning trail as soon as we can.
Obviously the players were bitterly disappointed about losing on Saturday which ended our recent run of four Nationwide League Division Three victories on the trot.
But we've got a great chance to bounce back on Saturday when we visit Halifax Town who are currently struggling at the foot of the table.
We were well aware that our winning sequence was going to end at some stage, but it was particularly disappointing for it to happen at Exeter because we thought the game there was winnable.
Afterwards we felt we should have won, but we didn't and we've got to make sure we don't slip up again on Saturday at The Shay.
It's another away game, but it's winnable. I have to say that the attitude of the players in training after Saturday's disappointment has been excellent.
You can see their determination and to be honest we are in a situation where we can't wait for the next game to come fast enough.
Although we lost at St James's Park on Saturday there were certainly a lot of good individual performances.
I thought the balance of the midfield three -- Danny Williams, Mark Blake and Richie Appleby -- was excellent. And probably of those three, Appleby was the pick with his involvement on the ball. In the second-half, though, Dean Bennett and Appleby took two heavy knocks which affected them and I think we suffered a little bit because of that.
But that's history now and we've got to look at the games coming up. Apart from Halifax perhaps, there are some difficult ones.
The following three against Rochdale, Hull City and Mansfield are going to be hard, but if we can go to Halifax on Saturday and get something out of it then it'll set us up nicely for the Christmas and New Year matches. But I think we fancy our chances against anyone.
The play-off places are not that far away from us and, in fact, our next six games are all in a short space of time.
So if we can get on a run during that spell and regularly pick up points it could well shape the rest of the season for us.
At the moment we are just hanging on in there in terms of the play-off places and if we can push on who knows what might happen.
If the forthcoming batch of games are going to be successful for us then there's every chance we will be close to the play-offs.
