RESIDENTS will be able to 'see the light' for miles thanks to a £3,500 grant to install floodlights around St Stephen's Church, writes Becky Procter.
A successful bid was made to British Gas as part of an environmental enhancement scheme.
Delighted town centre manager Jane Muckle, who submitted the bid on behalf of Redditch Town Centre Partnership, said work on the project was due to begin in the spring and the churchyard and spire should be lit up by the autumn.
The £300,000 project to restore the spire and tower is still taking place but more scaffolding is due to come down this week as work gets closer to completion.
The remaining scaffolding will be taken down in the new year and a thanksgiving service has been scheduled to take place at the beginning of March.
