THE discovery of an injured man near Worcestershire County Cricket Ground has sparked a police investigation.
Forensic experts joined uniformed officers at the scene, off New Road, today after the man was found on the riverbank.
He was helped into an ambulance in Bromwich Parade, and taken to Ronkswood Hospital, escorted by a police car.
Worcester police spokeswoman Clare Ryan said officers were called to the scene at 8am after concerns for the man's welfare had been raised.
She confirmed that he had injuries, but declined to comment on the extent of them or reveal any more details about the incident.
Officers at the scene said the man had not been pulled from the river or assaulted.
Two forensic officers remained at the entrance to Bromwich Parade, which was cordoned off for about 100 yards, after he was taken to hospital.
