FAMILIES have been warned to be wary around open water after a tiny tot fell in Droitwich Canal.
Last week, 18-month-old Alexandra Reilly hit the headlines when she fell from a bridge in Vines Park.
Luckily, her brave mum Tracey Reilly dived in and rescued her with the help of three good Samaritans.
Concerned grandmother Christina Woodall, of Wensleydale, called for the bridge to be made safer.
Droitwich Canals Trust is responsible for bridges in the park and supports an on-going maintenance programme.
Trust chairwoman Margaret Rowley said: "I was very concerned when I heard about the little girl and I would warn people to be very wary around open water.
"We do not want children falling in the canal.
"We did replace one of the bridges earlier this year and we do carry out regular maintenance work."
She added: "We are conscious of health and safety issues.
"The bridges have been here a long time and are of a traditional style.
"We will be looking at the best way to keep them up to scratch."
