JUBILANT anti-incinerator campaigners have banked £5,000 within a week of launching an appeal for funds to fight a planning appeal by the burner applicant.
London-based environmental campaign group Friends of the Earth has pledged £2,000, while offers of between £20 and £500 have also been pouring in from individuals across Wyre Forest.
And Health Concern MP Dr Richard Taylor revealed his group had pledged a further £500 which will take the fighting fund well on its way to its £8,000 target to fight the move to build the £40 million incinerator in Kidderminster.
SKI (Stop Kidderminster Incinerator) spokeswoman Clare Cassidy said members were "absolutely delighted" with the response to the group's appeal, reported in last week's Shuttle/Times and News.
She added further donations had been sent in by civic societies in Stourport, Kidderminster and Bewdley and by carpet giant Brintons.
