ALCESTER can close in on the league's second promotion place if they can set the record straight at home to lowly Rugby St Andrews.
After a shock early season loss to Rugby SA, who sit last but one with only one other win, Alcester captain Alan Williams said there was no prospect of a repeat at Kings Coughton on Saturday (ko 2.30pm).
Williams changed his backs for Saturday's friendly 10-7 win over Midlands West Four South strugglers Kings Norton with Justin Wheeling, Steve Wade and Rob Smith elevated from the Seconds and Robbie Parker out of position.
But Alcester are set to return to strength at the weekend with the club needing to win and win well to boost a poor points difference of +6.
The first team will get another workout on Boxing Day in the traditional friendly fixture against Alcester Grammar School Old Boys at Kings Coughton, kick-off time to be decided.
Alcester Ladies are holding training sessions at the club on Tuesday's from 7pm.
