A WORKER at a Stourport motor industry component supplier has dismissed a colleague's fears over the future of the firm.
The assembly operator, who did not want to be named, was responding to a report in last week's Shuttle/Times & News after another worker said people feared for their jobs at Dura Automotive Systems in Worcester Road following 11 redundancies.
He said there had been "friction" between Stourport-based employees and those brought in from Nottingham to train them in making pedal boxes for cars after production of cables was switched to other sites in Baldwin Road and Wales.
But the operator, who has worked at Dura for five years, denied claims that employees were unhappy and praised the workers from Nottingham as "really helpful".
"They have been brilliant bearing in mind they probably have no jobs to go back to," she added.
Production of pedal boxes was switched from Nottingham about six months ago to safeguard the future of the Worcester Road site.
"People here are lucky to even have a job," the operator said.
