A POLICE sergeant was kicked in the groin and a cup of coffee was knocked over a custody assistant by a 71-year-old man being held at Kidderminster police station.
Kenneth Addison, of York Street, Kidderminster, was fined £150, with £50 costs by town magistrates. He was told to pay £75 compensation to the assistant and £50 to the sergeant.
He admitted misusing the telephone system, assaulting the sergeant and the civilian assistant, resisting an arresting officer and failing to answer his bail.
He had made a series of abusive calls to the police switchboard operator, blocking the line to the station, said prosecutor Peter Parson.
In custody he kicked out at the sergeant.
Later he was arrested again and resisted the officer who went to his home. The coffee cup incident followed the second arrest.
His solicitor, Fergus Maxwell, said Addison had lost his dog and believed the police were not interested in helping him to find it. He had been drinking far too much, which led to the telephone calls and the physical clashes.
