I WONDER if our councillors rest well at night thinking that we are all stupid enough to believe the parking problems in Kidderminster are all due to their scapegoat, namely Pauline Hayward.
The parking problem for shoppers will go away so the episode will soon be forgotten, but do not try to blame one person, when the councillors are all guilty.
The reason the parking problem for shoppers will disappear is because the roads to Kidderminster shopping area will be so congested people will avoid the place.
Already at various times, roads leading into Kidderminster are so congested it can take 20 minutes to move half a mile.
To make matters worse, the council in its so-called wisdom has built a bus depot on the roundabout of a main ring road and allowed B and Q to build a mammoth store in a one-way system next to it.
With the expected extra traffic going to B and Q and Tesco's when it opens, the area will be one to avoid.
Extra traffic caused by the Crossley retail park does nothing to help the present ring road congestion.
With a minimum expected traffic increase of seven-and-a-half per cent per annum one can envisage total chaos within a few years.
Allowing service suppliers to dig up roads whenever they want, makes this situation worse.
A visit to Hong Kong and a few other cities in the world would show that we are 40 years behind the time.
In these places service ducts and large bore sleeves are used so that repairs and alterations that take us days can be done in hours.
