IS KIDDERMINSTER safe to visit?
My wife has just had her second car stolen from the Swan Centre car park.
She works in town so has no choice other than to park there, but it is getting to the stage where we can't afford to keep losing cars just for the privilege of working for a living.
The district council is happy to take the money for the limited parking that is left, so surely it should also take responsibility for security.
It is very sad when a vehicle can't be left parked and be expected to be there when the owner returns.
Car theft doesn't seem to be treated as a crime any more unless the culprit has stolen several vehicles.
And when they get to court they are told not to do it again.
It is all very well to say the vehicle is insured but the expenses incurred while a claim is being settled amount to a not inconsiderable sum which is not insured.
Why aren't car parks fitted with security cameras that work?
Maybe it is time the council faced up to their responsibilities and offered some security or they may find no-one wants to visit their crime-ridden town.
