A BIZARRE goal set Bromsgrove Rovers on their way to a 3-1 win over Quorn in the Midland Alliance last night.
After five minutes a left-wing cross from Kevin Banner hit visiting centre-half Michael Smith on the back and appeared to drop harmlessly to the floor.
But as goalkeeper Dave Sharpe went to gather it, the ball gathered momentum from back-spin and accelerated past him into the net.
Rovers extended their lead four minutes later when Steve Taylor, who has rejoined the club from Evesham United, lashed home a fierce volley from 20 yards.
The Greens made the game safe on 67 minutes when striker Marvin Blake capped a fine individual performance with a powerful shot from 12 yards after good work by winger Les Palmer down the left.
Quorn scored a late consolation goal through substitute Matt Wallace.
