Early on Tuesday morning, he went to feed the fowls when to his dismay he found the yard strewn with feathers and dead birds. When he came to total up he found the fox had accounted for 15 fowls, most of them valuable Silver Wyandottes in full lay.

EVESHAM: Evesham is the only town in Worcestershire, and possibly, in the Midlands to have made a profit out of its Festival of Britain effort. The aim was to raise £840 to pay for a new clock and repairs to the tower's carillon.

Evesham: Plans to convert the Crown Hotel, Evesham's premier inn for more than 400 years, into a modern hotel with 38 self-contained bedroom units, are to be put to the Wychavon planners in the new year. The proposals, which if accepted, will cost in excess of £500,000 and will constitute the largest redevelopment scheme in the town since the re-organisation of local government in 1973.
