Fladbury: On Friday, Fladbury was visited by a storm of peculiar severity for the season. Hailstones of considerable size, accompanied by thunder and lightning, passed across from a northern direction, and laid several corn crops flat.

Peopleton: Miss Selina Roper, at present in charge of Bulmer School, Yorkshire, has been appointed the new headmistress of Peopleton School.

Miss Roper is a native of Kidderminster, and she comes from Bulmer where she has been headmistress for two years, with excellent credentials.

Evesham: Skylarks are among resident birds which are becoming rarer in Evesham district, according to Alderman F C Hiden, who this week sent the Journal his observations on bird life in the town during the present year. He says Skylarks are now seldom seen in Evesham and that Yellowhammers too are disappearing.

Wyre Piddle: There is no chance of Wyre Piddle getting a bypass for at least five years. An official in the highways department of Hereford and Worcester county council said yesterday that plans had been drawn up for a bypass, which would cost well over £500,000 at current prices, but he thought it would be unlikely to materialise for at least five years.
