100 years ago - July 27, 1901

Evesham: William Bradley, a labourer, of Evesham was summoned for being drunk and disorderly in the parish of Hill and Moor on July 17. Defendant pleaded not guilty. PC Johnson said he heard the defendant shouting. He was drunk. When he spoke to the defendant he said he was looking for a woman in a field nearby. The defendant continued shouting, and with difficulty was induced to go away. He was fined 3s and 7s costs.

July 31, 1926

HInton: Ada James, of Hunts Farm, Hinton-on-the-Green, was summoned for keeping a dog without a license at Hinton on June 24. The case was adjourned from the last court for defendant's appearance. PC Boucher said defendant told him she had not got a license but then got one the following day. He saw the woman in April and told her then that the dog was seven months old. The woman was living in a shed. She was fined 5s and given a week to pay.

July 28, 1951

Pershore: Hooliganism in Pershore was deplored by the Chairman of Pershore Council, Mr P G Feek, on Wednesday evening, when it was reported to the council that two no-cycling signs in Bachelor's Entry had been interfered with. One of the signs, it was stated, had been torn down and thrown into a nearby garden. The other had been left hanging by one nail and had been repaired by the clerk, Mr W R Amery.

Evesham: Mr Tolley has lost his ten year campaign to pull down Evesham's Avonbridge House. Mr Tolley, who is head of Avonbridge Catering and Boating Enterprises Ltd, wanted to pull down the mid-Victorian building and build shops, offices and a restaurant there.
