Evesham: Anne Welsh was charged with being drunk and disorderly on the Hampton Road on Saturday last. Prisoner pleaded guilty. PC Merritt deposed that hearing a disturbance on Hampton Road, he went there and found her lying on the ground. She could not stand up. Sent down for seven days.

South Littleton: The Chief Constable reported to the Worcestershire Standing Joint Committee at the meeting on Saturday, that PC Hedley Rose, now stationed at South Littleton, is retiring from the force in October. He is 47 years of age and has 25 years service. His pension will be reduced because he is retiring before his time through disposition.

EVESHAM: Evesham Rural District Council is to seek the approval of the ministry to schemes involving a total cost of £7,776 for the renewal of water mains at Stanton Railway Bridge; Winchcombe Road, Sedgeberrow; Back Lane, Cow Honeybourne; Ullington Crossroads, Pebworth; Beckford and Shine Hill Lane, South Littleton. The money will be raised by loan.

Evesham: The total number of unemployed in the Vale has dropped this month - going against the national trend. Mr I Wallace, manager of the Employment Service Agency in Swan Lane, Evesham, said yesterday that 308 men and 96 women, a total of 404 people, were out of work compared with last month when 340 men and 75 women, a total of 415 people, were out of work.
