FREE emergency contraception will be available in chemists over Christmas.
The "morning after pill" is normally available for free from surgeries and contraception clinics, primary care centres, and A&E departments.
However, over the holiday period it will be available from many chemists.
Worcestershire Health Authority director of public health, Prof Brian McCloskey, said: "Unwanted pregnancy can cause ill-health for both mother and baby and therefore it is important for the health authority to help people prevent this happening.
"Obviously, our first message to everyone is 'don't put yourself at risk - don't have unprotected sex'
"For those who do find themselves in this position, we are providing this extra service to avoid the most damaging consequences."
The service will run from noon on Christmas Eve until 9am on Friday, January 4.
