COMMUNITY GROUP: Bidford Community Group held its monthly meeting at the Methodist Hall on December 4. Chaired by Rowena Irving discussions on the grant received from the council, the success of the skateboard plan and the success of the weekly Jolly Teapot meetings. Plans were started for the Queen's Jubilee celebrations next year and also discussed were the siting of CCTV surveillance cameras in the High Street a very interesting meeting.
FESTIVAL: Christmas Tree Festival at St Laurence's Church on December 8 and 9 was a wonderful array of beautifully decorated Christmas trees depicting many aspects of the festive occasion. Many innovative ideas they were all so eye catching there were 39 in all.
CONCERT: A three tenors concert held on December 8 at the Crawford Hall arranged by John Adams featured Opera, Show and Neapolitan songs together with songs from the shows and Irish music excellently performed by Roy Vaughan and an all star cast made for a good evenings entertainment.
CHOIR: The Alcester Ladies Choir and the Alcester Silver Band gave a concert at St Laurence's Church recently, just the thing for the musical ear to appreciate.
SCHOOL: Bidford school children held their annual Christmas entertainment on December 13 and 14, all the children giving a notable performance under the auspices of the headmistress Mrs Honeybun and her versatile staff.
FUNERAL: The funeral of a well known local bell ringer, Mr Fred Munday took place on December 14. He was known countrywide in campanology circles and a muffled peal was rung before and after the funeral and also for an hour on Saturday.
