BRITISH LEGION WOMEN'S SECTION: Held their monthly meeting in the Betteridge Room, visitors were welcomed to the meeting. A minute's silence was kept in memory of Mrs Mary Dicker, who was passed president and regular member. Mike Edwards was introduced, who read poems, and related some very humorous stories. Mike was thanked by Mrs Pat Kearsey. The evening ended with a social half hour with mince pies and wine. Next meeting, February 6 when the speaker will be Fred Brockman 'My Life as a Herdsman'. Hostesses for the evening Mrs J Brazier, Mrs M Bright and Mrs S Bull.
RBL POPPY APPEAL: The branch poppy appeal organiser, Teresa Holder, reports a record total for 2001 of £1,640. The branch covers the villages of Sedgeberrow, Hinton-on-the-Green, Aston Somerville and Mount Pleasant and this is the first time that the total has exceeded £1,500. Mrs Holder thanks all her collectors and all those who have in any way contributed to this record total.
