The newly-elected president, Keith Weston, presented a wall-mounted sundial to King Charles I School after the Founder's Day service, as part of the association's millennium gift to the school.
These sundials have to be made specifically for the site on which they are to be installed, taking account of latitude, longitude and the direction in which the wall is facing - in this case about 30 degrees west of south.
Silas Higgon of connoisseur Sun Dials, Craven Arms, was commissioned to design and hand craft this one, which will work only on the wall of Hillgrove House where it has been installed.
The letters KCI, OCA and MMI were added to represent the school, the association and the date in Roman numerals.
The sundial is made of bronze.
Headmaster Alan Brooks accepted the gift for the school, commenting that it complements the association's other millennium gift - refurbishment of the war memorial clock, originally presented in 1919.
