FURTHER funding will be needed and more questions will have to be answered if Pershore is to have a skatepark.
The town council's finance and property committee has been discussing the possibility of a new skateboarding facility in the town. The meeting was held after councillors said that they would consider offering funding if a suitable site was found and they could be given assurances that parents and children would manage it.
The authority has now written to Wychavon District Council to see if it can add to the £1,942 which was left in town council coffers from a defunct skateboarding club, as the town council has no other means to fund it.
It is not known yet how big the park would be and how much it would cost to provide, but town council chairman Richard Hampton said there were also other matters to decide before any sort of project could proceed.
"There's not a lot we can do to help at the moment and there are still the questions of where it will be, who will fund it and who will manage it," he said.
"We are now waiting for an answer from Wychavon as to whether they can help with funding. If they can contribute funding, then maybe we could do something."
