Evesham and District Airgun League

THE latest action saw the halfway point of the season reached with second in the table Lygon Arms taking on Stanton Club, the side immediately beneath them.

After some good shooting from both sides it was the Lygon who took both points after the narrowest of victory margins.

James Cuthbertson and Steve Pratt both scored 48 for the winners with Jackie Laming hitting 49 for Stanton. The result lifted Lygon back to the top of the league table ahead of inactive Offenham RBL.

Another close match was between Hampton WMC and Bidford RBL with the home team taking both points after a 261-259 win. Dave Ayres recorded a 46 for Hampton and John Shrimpton 47 for Bidford.

Fairfield Nomads travelled to Broadway FC and came away with both points after an easy win by 20 points. Dave Betley scored a 44 for the home team and Garath Bostock and Andrew Print both hit 45 for the Nomads.

Campden RBL played host to Evesham SMC and took both points with a 274-267 victory. Bob Pitcher scored his third maximum of the season and Frazer Wilks hit a 48 for Evesham.

The last match between Wickhamford SSC and Badsey Rec saw the home team taking both points with a six-point-win. Stewart McKechnie scored a 49 for Wickhamford and Ashley Green and Cliff Gough both hit 48 for Badsey.

The semi-finals and final of the four-a-side were contested on the same night at Badsey Rec.

The first semi was between Stanton Club and Campden RBL with the former taking the first final spot with a seven- point win - 189-182 - in which Jackie Laming scored a maximum for Stanton.

Bob Pitcher and Dennis Buckland both hit 47 for Campden.

The other semi-final was between Offenham RBL and Wickhamford SSC with the former winning 194-184 with Ady Lewis, Paul Lewis and Steph Anderson all scoring 49 for Offenham and Paul Nicholls and Andy Beadle both scoring a 47 for Wickhamford.

The final was a close match with both teams scoring 192. The result was then decided on clean bulls with Offenham boasting 20 and Stanton 13 to see Offenham take the crown.

The high scores were for Stanton Dave Staniforth and Jackie Laming both with 49. For Offenham, Ady Lewis, Jamie Beadle and Steph Anderson all matched their opponents' feat.
