A DISTRICT councillor is trying to obtain funding to restore a bandstand in a Worcestershire town.
The bandstand, on the riverside near Telford's Bridge, Bewdley, could be a fantastic tourist attraction, says Coun Stephen Clee.
The Wyre Forest councillor has been trying to obtain funding for the bandstand for several years.
"The district council constantly keep advising me they aren't responsible for the bandstand, although they took over full responsibility from the former Bewdley Borough - which included the bandstand - in 1974," said Coun Stephen Clee, who represents the town.
"The bandstand sits in a prominent spot at the entrance to Bewdley.
"It falls next to the Worcestershire Way and would make a fantastic tourist attraction for summer shows and artistic promotions on the banks of the Severn."
He says Worcestershire County Council has become interested in developing the site.
"I'm delighted the county officers are working up a scheme to restore the bandstand to its former glory," said Coun Clee.
"I'll pursue this project until we achieve success."
