A LARGE congregation attended the carol service at the Church of St Mary the Virgin on Sunday, December 16. The service of carols and readings was organised by Peter Remmer. The choir, accompanied by the resident organist Arthur Lawrence, led the singing.
A solo of the first verse of Once in Royal David's City was sung by Melissa Gordon. The choir sang three carols, The Linden Tree Carol, O Little One Sweet and The Infant King. The readers were:- Rebecca Vince, Ann Wiseman, Mary-Ann Preece, Margaret Moss, Elena Mundy and Emma McGilvray, Alan Brown, Roger Taylor, Peter Remmer, Rev David Bowers.
After the service the congregation were invited to partake in sherry and mince pies. The vicar, the Rev David Bowers thanked all those who had organised the service, the flower rota members for the beautiful floral decorations and those who had supplied and served the refreshments especially Audrey Wellon for providing all the mince pies.
