PARENTS, friends and relations were treated to an outstanding performance of A Victorian Music Hall by the very talented children and staff of Pendock School.
Each year these gifted children excel, obviously enjoying so much what they do and giving their best.
The costumes were marvellous (someone obviously working very hard to get all the details of the period right). The Master of Ceremonies (no, not Lionel Sachs) Matthew Cunningham gave an outstanding performance. I'm sure most of us wouldn't have been able to pronounce half of the words let alone spell them. He was ably assisted by Isabel Bateson.
All of the songs, old favourites, were eagerly joined in by the audience accompanied by the producer and director Gill Deakin. A couple of Bobbies obviously off their beat in more ways than one strolled in and caused chaos with their rendition of Gendarmes Duet, to the obvious delight of the children and audience.
Thank you so much to so many who helped to make this year's entertainment so special. I like many others eagerly await next year's treat.
On Monday the children were again very busy leading the candlelit service at Berrow Church, with traditional carols and readings.
The very atmospheric service was conducted in candle light with the children processing up the aisle with their candles making the service almost magical.
The collection was in aid of The Children's Society when £71 was counted at the end of proceedings, together with money raised from the end of term non-uniform day £100 will now be given to The Children's Society.
Well done children. A wonderful effort.
The children have enjoyed a beautifully cooked Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa Claus. Two treats in one day. Thank you to all the staff and parents who made this possible. The children thoroughly enjoyed it all (especially the crunchy roast potatoes).
I have enjoyed reporting on all the events held at this wonderful small village school during 2001, having always been made to feel welcome, with all this talent under one roof I look forward to reporting events for 2002. Christmas wishes and Happy New Year. Enjoy the holidays.
