PUPILS at Great Malvern Primary School have just completed a 6-week course of cricket coaching organised by the Lord Cobham Youth Cricket Trust.

The scheme has been funded and supported by Wallace, Robinson and Morgan, Solihull Solicitors and Sportsmatch.

Les Bishop, trustee and secretary of the trust, presented the children with a certificate and a coaching booklet at their final session. The scheme has been co-ordinated through Malvern Hills District Council.

Avril Irish, sport and recreation officer from MHDC said: "This really has been a wonderful opportunity for the children, introducing them to not just cricket but a healthy and active lifestyle. They have worked very hard and thoroughly enjoyed the course and I hope that many of them will continue to enjoy more cricket in the New Year."

Tim Williams, who is an ECB Level 2 coach from Barnards Green CC has been coaching the children.

He said: "I have been very impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment that the children have shown. They have all achieved a tremendous amount since the first week and I very much hope to see some of them at the cricket club in the future."

The trust has funded many projects in Worcestershire and is always willing to discuss others with companies or individuals that might like to help finance their activities.
