Perhaps it is not generally known that a minstrel troupe composed of local amateurs is rehearsing and will probably give a performance soon after Christmas. Some years ago, there was a very successful troupe in Malvern, of which Mr C Lewis was a leading spirit, and I have no doubt the new one when it appears will meet with success. There are many outward signs that we are on the eve of Christmas. King Frost, who has reigned supreme for the past week, has gladdened the heart of Ledbury's butchers by his prolonged presence, and hopes are entertained that he will not desert us until the festivities are over. The drive to the entrance of the County Hotel, Malvern - now the property of the Ministry of Supply - was on Saturday blocked with removal vans and private transport following the end of the four-day sale of the furnishings and other effects of the hotel. The grand sale realised £15,020. Malvern Gazette, December 21, 1951.

At 5s for a three-foot spruce tree, uprooted, there has been a big demand in Ledbury. Most of the mistletoe on the market is of French origin, lower prices for this having hit the British variety. Ledbury Reporter, December 21, 1951.

Malvern rugby players were hoping for a seven-hour drinking session after their traditional Boxing Day match. But the town's magistrates decided it was not to be when considering an application for an extension of hours at the clubroom. Malvern Gazette, December 23, 1976.
