BELL Inn 98 entertained Old Bush Willie Thornes last Sunday in the club's first Malvern League meeting.
BELL INN 7, OLD BUSH WILLIE THORNES 4
Both sides started nervously and mistakes were plenty as the visitors took a fifth minute lead when Mark King shot superbly giving home keeper Luke Ledbury no chance.
This spurred the home side into action and Tim Febrey scored with a thunderous 40 yard drive to even the score and Darren Cooke then put Bell ahead after a fantastic dribble and cross by Jim Argent.
However King completed his first half hat-trick inside 15 minutes to make the score an improbable 3-2.
Cooke grabbed his second on 35 minutes and achieved his first half hat-trick from close range after a mistake by the visiting keeper.
Man of the match Paul Rowe set up the fifth as his powerfully hit shot was headed goal bound by skipper Dave Beech, this made the half time score 5-3 to the Bell.
Substitute Bruce Brocklesby's impact on the game was not long in coming as he powerfully headed home a Tony Gabb cross to make it 6-3, King then immediately grabbed his fourth of the match to reduce the deficit.
Brocklesby made the game safe with his second and the Bell's seventh as he fired in from 30 yards.
There is no game on Sunday but the Bell are away on the December 30 to Fromes Hill in what promises to be an exciting local derby.
On Sunday the club are holding the first annual football quiz challenge in The Bell, teams of three all welcome, 2pm start.
