SEVEN wins in their last eight games have seen Radar rocket up the Worcester League Division Two to second position although they had to come back from 2-0 down to clinch the points on Sunday.

MALVERN RADAR 6, THE LAKES 2

The two sides met last month and the Lakes scored in the second minute, this time they scored in the first. From the kick off the ball was promptly fired down the wing to Paul Booth and his excellent cross caused hesitancy between Radar keeper Chris Ball and defender Phil Birch, the latter heading into his own net with just 15 seconds on the clock.

Radar then had a spell of attacking and Lakes keeper Andrew Ryder pulled off a great save to push away John Rooney's rocket shot and when Gary Harman's corner caused tremendous confusion in the six yard box the ball was cleared off the line three times.

At the other end Booth was linking up well with Mark Walker and when Booth was released with a great through ball, defender Steve Harness had to come to the rescue with a well-timed tackle. However no one could stop Booth when he ran from the half way line and floated a great shot over the stranded Ball from 25 yards.

Radar still pushed forward but were kept out by Ryder who did well to field Darren Loader's tremendous overhead kick. It wasn't until a minute before half time that Nial Henderson tried a snap shot from the edge of the box which found the bottom corner of the net.

The first 15 minutes of the second half saw Radar on top and it was no surprise when Harman swung in a free kick and Dave Marshall equalised at the far post.

Lakes then almost went back in front but Chris Ball foiled Adam Jones in a one-on-one confrontation and then when Ball was beaten by Walker, Steve Harness spectacularly cleared the ball off the line. The ball quickly went up the other end and Marshall crossed for Henderson to tap in from close range.

Darren Loader then made it 4-2 again from close in and Henderson then completed a deserved hat-trick from the penalty spot, Dave Marshall completed the scoring to make it 6-2.

This Sunday Radar are away to Malvern Premiers, venue to be announced, probably Lower Howsell or Victoria Park.

Radar will also be holding their usual Boxing Night Disco at the RSRE Club, things getting under way at 8pm. Tickets available from the usual outlets.
