EVESHAM COLTS 2, WELLAND JUNIORS 3

WELLAND, with James Smith standing-in as goalkeeper - and the underdogs based on current Mercian Elgar U15's League positions - started brightly, creating several scoring opportunities for front man Gerald Chance - but it was his strike partner Gareth Witts who beat two defenders and calmly slotted the ball home to break the deadlock.

Evesham responded well, putting together a lengthy spell of neat passing football and were rewarded with two goals in quick succession. Welland then showed a glimpse of things to come with Tom Crump hitting the crossbar before half time.

The second half went all Welland's way, their superb team spirit came to the fore as they attacked incessantly and were rewarded with the equaliser as Witts forced his way behind a defender to score his second goal. With ten minutes to go, Welland won a free kick 25 yards out and Tom Holland stepped up to hit a magnificent strike that flew into the net. Welland then coasted to a comfortable victory.

Man of the match was James Smith.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 3, BREDON COLTS 0

WITH a month without a game in the Mercian Elgar U13's League it took a rusty Wanderers time to find their rhythm.

The deadlock, was finally broken after 17 minutes as Matt Hopwood drilled into the top corner following fine approach play from Zac Blood and Ben Parker.

The second half with Wanderers now camped in the visitors half it came as no surprise as Luke Arnold doubled the tally with a bullet strike from 12 yards out. The defence of Wanderers' Scott Roberts, Matt Bayer and Craig Richards again kept keeper Ashley Bennett totally unused with their tight marking and well timed challenges. The score was completed ten minutes from time with Matt Hopwood cutting in from the left flank to leave the Bredon keeper clutching fresh air.

Man of the match was Scott Roberts.

WORCESTER JUNIORS 1, MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 10.

WANDERERS got off to their customary poor start in this Mercian Elgar Under 12's Junior League match conceding a goal in the first minute.

However they quickly pulled themselves together with Ollie Mason controlling the defence and Marc Heptinstall and James Lush outstanding on the left wing. There were some deft touches from Danny Stimson in midfield and Luke Butler was his usual dynamic self.

The team created plenty of scoring opportunities and Ryan Mansbridge and Chris Bowen both picked up hat-tricks. Jack Higgs got two goals with fine left footed shots; Paul Jordan, always threatening on the right wing, came infield to score; and Max White took a free kick from outside the penalty area and blasted it into the top of the net.

SUFFOLK RANGERS 1, MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 7

AN excellent team performance gave Malvern Town Wanderers a comprehensive victory in this Mercian Elgar U10's League fixture on Saturday.

Malvern opened brightly and good work by Douglas Howie gave Josh Asquith the opportunity to open the scoring. Josh Asquith repaid the favour minutes later when Douglas Howie headed his cross into the back of the net. Keeper Ben Wheeler dominated his box throughout the match and defenders Josh Ball and Natalie Chadney dealt superbly with any threat posed by the home team. Malvern extended their lead just before half time when Josh Asquith scored from a Douglas Howie pass.

After the interval the hard work and skill of midfielders Jack Bottomley and Bobs Mackichan began to pay dividends. Good work from Alex Wren set up Adam Mayo who was very unlucky not to score. A great goal from Alex Wren increased the visitors' lead and they went further ahead when another shot from Wren was headed past his own keeper by the unfortunate Rangers defender. Alex Wren then met Josh Ball's corner with a thunderbolt header, which gave the keeper no chance. The home team grabbed a consolation goal before Douglas Howie scored Wanderers' seventh.
