THE Tesco store in Hereford has been named as one of the best providers of customer service in the country in a national survey undertaken by retailer Timpson.
The key cutting and shoe repair chain carried out a survey among 1,620 customers to find out what their pet hates were and who delivered the goods when it came to excellent customer service.
The Tesco store in Hereford was named by respondents as a "service saint", along with about 30 other stores in the country, selling everything from computers and electrical goods to CDs and clothes.
Unfortunately for Hereford shoppers, two major retail chains were also named and shamed in the list of "service sinners".
Of the things that enraged customers most were shop staff with a confrontational approach to their complaints, while assistants who talked to other staff during a sale were top of the list.
On the other side of the coin, 28 per cent of staff said they had experienced physical or verbal abuse.
