JOHN Brain will sit down with fly half Steven Vile next month to discuss extending his Sixways stay.
The fly-half, who joined Worc-ester Rugby Club during October, has enjoyed a successful first few months after initially arriving as a back-up player.
Vile came to Worcester as insurance to the injury-prone Craig Chalmers and Tony Yapp in the stand-off spot but has impressed with his kicking and positional play in a number of first-team matches. The 31-year-old signed originally until January but looks likely to agree an extension in the New Year. "We will sit down and talk next month," said Brain. "Steven has done everything we have asked of him since he came to the club.
"He was thrown in at the deep end at Moseley for his debut and he has been swimming ever since.
"He just wants to play as many games as possible and is happy to be concentrating on playing."
Among his fans since his arrival is skipper Kingsley Jones who now believes it is vital to Worcester's promotion bid that Vile stays on.
"I think if you look at what has happened this season so far, we need to hold on to Steven," said Jones.
"Craig Chalmers has suffered with injury this season and players like Steven who can come in and do a great job are priceless.
"He has been excellent for us since he came and is one of those players who never moans, he simply gets on with the job in hand.
"We have three top-class fly halves with Steven, Tony and Craig and we will obviously need that depth of squad as the season goes on.
"People have talked about other teams being title contenders but when you start picking up injuries in the latter part of the season, it can begin to take its toll. I think Worcester are well placed because our squad is very strong."
