Worcester Wolves Basketball Club's star point guard Ben Livingston has pledged his future to the club.

Livingston has been kept on the bench for most of their recent National League Division One games following what the club described as "internal problems", and several clubs had expressed an interest in signing him.

But following talks Livingston has decided to stay with the club, and he will figure prominently in tonight's clash with Ware Fire at University College Worcester (7pm).

Livingston, a former England Under 19 and Under 23 international who has also played for Coventry and Solihull, only joined the game in the last 10 minutes during last week's win over Liverpool.

The club's Director of Operations Mick Donovan said he had received many calls from fans asking why the player was out of favour.

He explained: "We had one or two internal problems and as a club we have dealt with them 'in house'.

"Ben has publicly been very professional, and Rick Solvason and Stuart France have given Ben the playing time that they believe to be fair."

Of the interest from other clubs, Donovan added: "There may have been unofficial approaches but there has certainly not been an official approach to the club."

Livingston himself said: "I, as always, will play hard and give everything whilst on court. I want to be part of a successful Worcester Wolves basketball team."

Wolves can climb to fourth place in the table if they can record a third successive victory tomorrow, although their Hertfordshire visitors are currently in third place and will prove tough opponents.

Head coach Solvason is confident of an upset against a physically bigger Ware side.

He said: "We are aware of the task, and if we work hard defensively and keep a disciplined approach we have the potential to win."

Wolves should be at full strength apart from young Greek star Fotos Mavraganis, who has returned to his homeland for the Christmas period.

Wolves' next game is away to Oxford on January 5.
