Littleton 5, Chelmsley Town Res 1
LITTLETON stretched their winning run to ten when they outplayed visitors Chelmsley Town Reserves to move into the next round of the league's Knockout Cup.
Due to postponements this was Littleton's first game since November 24 and it took them some time to get into their stride.
For the first 20 minutes the game was pretty even with neither side looking threatening. Littleton went close on 25 minutes when Des Cox broke down the left, his centre found Darren Reeves whose header was tipped over by the Chelmsley keeper.
Three minutes later Littleton took the lead. Mark Gledhill sent Billy Hiden clear who beat the keeper in the rush for the ball and it just reached the goal.
The lead was doubled almost at once when a Matthew Edwards centre was met by a powerful volley from the onrushing Reeves which gave the keeper no chance.
A third goal was not long in coming as Cox shot against the keeper and, when the ball looped into the air, the top scorer was quickest to react and head in the rebound.
On the stroke of half-time Littleton's keeper Adam Moss was penalised for handling outside the box. Adam Jenkins converted the free kick with a powerful shot. In the aftermath, the home side's Adrian Wilde was sent off.
At the start of the second half Chelmsley came out to try and make their one-man advantage count and went close when Hawker shot just wide.
However, Littleton always looked in command and increased their lead after 63 minutes with a clever goal from Hiden.
Seeing the keeper was a long way out, he chipped the ball from all of 40 yards, just under the bar.
Two minutes later, Cox wrap-ped up the scoring when he converted an Edwards free-kick from close-range.
The game was sponsored by Robert Stern BMW of Eve-sham.
Littleton are home on Saturday to Rugby Town Reserves, ko 2pm.
