THERE was plenty of yuletide sparkle in the Stratford Alliance as two sides produced seven-up shows!
Quinton were Saturday's most convincing winners after a 7-0 Cutler Division Two thrashing of hosts Alcester 2000, but Redditch Boro ran them close after easily disposing of FISSC Reserves in the first round of the Alun Rees Trophy.
James Bunn led the way for Quinton with a hat-trick, with James Valentino (2), Lee Rudden and Iain Sayer completing the rout.
Steve Evans and Lee Higgins both scored twice for Boro, while Dave Lamb's brace was scant consolation for FISSC.
Paul Harris was a second hat-trick man as his triple blast helped Badsey United Reserves to an easy 5-0 defeat of Camp-den Town's second string. Robert Smith also scored twice.
The first round replay between Ilmington Revolution and Alcester Lions was abandoned.
Two more matches fell victim to the weather but Bretforton Old Boys turned up the heat in the race of top flight honours with a 3-0 Journal Premier Division win over Badsey Rangers.
Paul Jones, Daryl Mitchell and Adam Slade were on target as the hosts showed their intention of regaining the championship crown.
