Pershore 7 pts,

Old Coventrians 14

ANOTHER mixed day for Pershore with inconsistency their big problem, one week playing excellent rugby the next this awful performance.

True enough there were some changes due to unavailabilities and inju-ries but Pershore should still have won this game.

Playing into a biting cold wind, Pershore controlled things up front but failing to put points on the board.

Just before half-time pressure told and Jem Richardson broke from a scrum and powered his way over the line. Robin Haines converted.

Coventrians were more adventurous behind the scrum, running the ball from everywhere and it was only good defence that held them out. Midway through the second half the games pattern changed.

Covs scored a gift try from an intercepted pass and duly converted.

With their confidence soaring they continued to run at Pershore's defence making holes then spreading the ball to their quick wingers.

Eventually, their big powerful centre crashed through a fragile defence and scored under the posts and a simple conversion gave them the lead.

Pershore now attacked the visiting defence with menace but the clock was against them.

Evesham's struggles continued with an 8-0 home defeat at the hands of table toppers Leamington
