IS it any wonder the Post Office, or as it is now called Consignia (at a cost of £2m) is losing money?

They ran out of second class postage stamps in the run-up to Christmas. Not only Christmas stamps, but ordinary second class stamps as well.

Christmas Day comes round with unfailing regularity every year on the same date. What kind of business, given such advance warning, could make such a blunder? Perhaps the top managers have taken their eye off the ball and are concentrating on privatisation and all the fat cat benefits it brings to them.

TERRY JAMES,

Drakes Broughton, near Worcester.
