AN Evesham woman who sings in a tribute band has said her first night on stage in the West End was abba-solutely fantastic.
Claire Gordon, aged 26, of Larkspur Drive, who takes the role of Agnetha Faltskog in The Real AbbA Gold show, made her West End debut at the Mayfair Theatre in Stratton Street as the band played a series of pre-Christmas shows.
Professional vocalist Claire, who joined the band at the beginning of last year, said although the venue was not the biggest the group had played, the sense of playing in the West End made the show special.
Speaking the morning after the first show, the start of a run of seven shows in six days, she said: "We couldn't have wished for a better opening night.
"The place was quite small though really. It was a lot more intimate, like playing in your own front room, but the sense of occasion was absolutely fantastic."
Claire hopes they will be on the Money Money Money with two shows lined up at a casino in Malta and other dates fixed up for Barcelona and Scotland later next year.
She said one of the big draws of playing in London at this time of year was the chance to go Christmas shopping in the West End.
