FAIRPORT Convention violinist Ric Sanders is bringing his own band to the Huntingdon Hall in Worcester next month.
Ric has been a member of Fairport Convention since 1985, but before then he played with the well-known Albion Band and Soft Machine.
He has worked with a multitude of artists, including June Tabor, All About Eve, Jethro Tull and The Strawbs.
Ric's new band, though, features the guitarist, Vo Fletcher, who has worked with Ric for many years, and percussionist Mike Gregory, who was the drummer with The Albion Band.
The trio's repertoire includes original compositions and new interpretations of folk material, as well as pieces by composers, such as George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt and Miles Davies.
Their special guest, Chris Leslie, is another Fairport Convention regular, performing with the band for the last five years and becoming the group's major songwriter.
With the Ric Sanders Trio he is able to explore several musical avenues, such as jazz mandolin, alongside some new interpretations of his songs and material from his solo albums.
The gig at the Huntingdon Hall starts at 8pm on January 11 and tickets cost £9 or £8 concessions. Call the box office for details.
