THERE is a touch of Basil Fawlty in your correspondent Operative No 9701 who oversees parking on Crossley Park. (Letters, December 13).
I too am one of his victims - assumed by him to be guilty of returning to the same car park within two hours of leaving.
I was treated to sarcasm when asking him to explain the error.
When I chose to get into my car rather than continue to talk to him, first he opened the door as my husband was driving away, then he stood in front of the car so my husband could not drive off.
It is not surprising people are, in his words, "objectionable" or have "verbally attacked and threatened violence".
Anyone who has to deal with members of the public should first learn how not to provoke them.
