SOMERLEYTON WI - At the December meeting, Margaret Burbey reported on the Merry Christmas day at Blakedown, when demonstrations had included dishes from the store cupboard, table decorations, cracker making and flower arranging.
Chairman Angie McCarthy commented on the Christmas Is Coming concert in the town hall, which she had enjoyed.
John Powell gave a talk on Victorian games, and with his wife, demonstrated such activities as Squales, Daddlems, Pull the Pig and Humpty Dumpty!
At one time he could buy these at car boot sales but now, with The Antiques Road Show and the internet, many people are interested in them. Sheila Mason won the Christmas decoration competition, judged by Mrs Powell.
The next meeting, on January 8 at St Cecilia's Church Hall, is a members' games evening. The competition is for Anything made from paper. New members are always welcome.
