CLASSICAL MUSIC SOCIETY - On Friday, December 14, the annual Christmas party began with words and music, and ended with an American supper.
Down in the forest was the first music heard, then chairman Graham Kiteley read Ghost Story by Dylan Thomas, and The Wicked Singers.
David Essex's recording of A Winter's Tale came next, then vice-chairman Von Stewart read extracts from A Christmas Carol. This was followed by a carol that Dickens himself would probably have known - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
Michael Foizey read Thomas a Becket's final sermon from TS Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral.
Alison Osborne then performed a short comedy routine, after which Scheidt-Puer Natus in Bethlehem was played.
Graham read The night before Christmas, and Prokofiev's Troika ended the presentation.
On January 11 the first of two programmes of recordings depicting Kings and Queens will be presented by Alison and her team, starting 7.30pm, at Holy Innocents Hall. Visitors will be welcome.
