ONE hundred unique commemorative plates have been created by a Hanley Swan porcelain company to help staff at Colwall's Malvern Water factory celebrate 150 years of bottling.
The limited edition plates have been hand-finished by Bronte Porcelain artist, Tony Young. The plate features images of the Holy Well (where the local water was first bottled), a traditional Schweppes delivery horse and cart and the Malvern Hills. Written in gold calligraphy around the rim are the words "150 years of Schweppes Malvern, the original English natural mineral water".
They will be individually addressed to the factory's 30 staff, some of their Coca Cola Enterprises colleagues at the company's headquarters and recently-promoted general manager Wayne Boden. One of the plates will also be kept on display at The Springs factory.
Mr Boden said: "We wanted to do something special for staff - to give them a lasting memory of a special year.
"We knew Bronte was in Malvern and they have a reputation for producing high quality porcelain products."
The porcelain factory recently moved to Hanley Swan from the Malvern Link base where it was established in 1996.
