BRAVO! Mrs Roberts (Your Letters, December 7), at least I made one councillor sit up and take notice.
Only that day I was handed a crime report, issued by Ledbury police officer, PC Gordon, the beat manager. No less than 35 criminal acts were listed for November, burglary, car crime and theft and wanton vandalism.
It would be interesting to learn how many felons were apprehended for these acts of wickedness within our town. Mrs Roberts would be better to reserve her ire for the perpetrators of these who, not only make life a misery for those who suffer, but who are impoverishing society in general.
Perhaps the council could make a start on behalf of the police and the townspeople they represent by demanding of central government that instead of spending £22 million in defending a bunch of Afghans (on Human Rights issues), the money could be more properly used by those on the home front and the enemy within. Now, this would be pro-active.
H R POOLEY, Upperhall Close, Ledbury.
