MALVERN Link beat manager Dilip Sarkar and his wife Anita have raised more than £10,000 for the Douglas Bader Foundation.
Their publishing company, Ramrod Productions, has raised thousands by donating 100 per cent of the profits from PC Sarkar's latest book, Sir Douglas Bader - An Inspiration In Photographs, to the charity.
Anita also recently contributed £2,500 to the cause by completing a sponsored 250-mile cycle ride across the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Spain.
"It was the best thing I've ever done in my life," she said.
"It was very hard work at times, but it was great because there was such a family atmosphere.
"Everyone got on really well, and there was a real mix of people, from people who are members of cycle clubs and take it very seriously to housewives like me, and from GPs to a pork pie delivery man.
"No-one wanted to come home at the end of the trip, and if anyone is considering doing something similar I would highly recommend it!"
She said the Douglas Bader Foundation, which looks after amputees and the disabled, had benefited to the tune of more than £40,000 from the combined sponsorship money from the trip.
It is already laying plans for its next sponsored cycle, which will be in Cuba in January 2003.
Anyone who is interested in joining the ride can contact Mrs Sarkar on 01905 767735.
