A "HEARTBROKEN" Bromsgrove couple getting married in the New Year have had cash put aside for their wedding stolen by "heartless" thieves during a burglary at their home.

The Catshill couple, who are due to marry during the first week of January, also had electrical equipment and jewellery stolen during the burglary at their Mayfield Close home.

The pair, who do not wish to be named, said in a statement: "It is very frightening to know someone has come into your home and rifled through your belongings.

"We are now constantly watching to see if anyone is coming to the house.

"The amount of paperwork is overwhelming and what with having to make arrangements for Christmas and the wedding as well, it has been a difficult week for us."

The couple returned home at about 8pm on Wednesday, December 12 to find their 32-inch television, video, DVD player, microwave, hi-fi, jewellery and cash for the wedding had been stolen.

Among property taken was a Tag Heuer watch.

PC Jan Shelley said the couple were "heartbroken" to discover the burglary.

She added: "Burglary at Christmas time can be very distressing. It really is heartless."

The burglary happened between 4.15pm and 8pm.

Anyone with information about the burglary, or the stolen property, should call Bromsgrove police on (01527) 584888 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
