A BROMSGROVE woman met her brother for the first time in 56 years last Saturday when he came to spend Christmas with her and her family.
Jackie Barlow, 57, of Leach Heath Lane, in Rubery, was just one-year-old when the divorce of her parents separated her from her brother, Peter Tancred, 66, who now lives in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
She had been looking for him for 40 years and was at the point of giving up a few years ago but close friend and neighbour Joan Portman, encouraged her to continue: "I could see her desperation and knew how much it meant to her to find him," said Joan.
Jackie finally managed to get in touch with Peter through Yours magazine two years ago and the pair had spoken regularly on the telephone ever since.
Now they have finally decided to meet, Joan is over the moon. "Jackie is so excited and I'm so pleased for her because, her years of searching have finally paid off."
